City seeks new ideas and outside perspective for future Downtown planning.

(Dinuba, CA) - In March 2018, the City of Dinuba, in collaboration with California Polytechnic University (Cal Poly) Department of City and Regional Planning, began a land use and urban design study and visioning process for Downtown Dinuba. The study areas included in this project include the core Downtown and a secondary Downtown study area which incorporates key community resources such as the high school, library, and Chamber of Commerce.

The City of Dinuba was granted a Community Development Block Grant in 2014 to help revitalize the eastern part of the City. The funding is being utilized to make the East El Monte Way Economic Vitality Sustainability Plan. The sustainability plan has two parts: Retail Trade Area Demographic Profile, and the Land Use Strategic Plan. A draft Plan has been completed and is being presented to the City Council for final review. (Attachment 'A') The plan focuses on land uses, circulation, economic incentives, and other strategies to revitalize the Mercantile Row Shopping center within an approximately 170-acre area along the East El Monte Commercial Corridor. Seven (7) goals are identified in the plan, along with objectives for each.

The City of Dinuba Fire Department will start their annual Weed Abatement process in April, 2018. 

This process is actually continuous and ongoing; however, in the summer months after the seasonal rains, overgrown vegetation, can lead to a hazardous situation on both vacant and occupied properties. An assessment of properties within the City Limits will be conducted over the next few weeks, and letters will be sent out explaining that property owners are in violation of one or more of the following code sections:

The City of Dinuba Downtown Beautification Program encourages public involvement in the enhancement of planter boxes and “bulb-outs in and around the downtown. The Adopt-A-Planter program is a volunteer-based activity where area volunteer groups “adopt” and maintain designated planter boxes and flower beds. By working together, we can help to enhance the beauty and inviting atmosphere of our Downtown assets.
